Bringing in the Cavalry

One of my Favourite models that Forgeworld has produced to date, both looks and rules wise, the fire raptors intimidating shilouette fills the souls of its enemies with dread as it soars on to the battlefield.

I had to have one in my army, at one point I was even planning on two, plans have changed since then though as I felt the need for more armour killing weaponry, which will come in the form of three rapier laser destroyers.

This is of course not finished yet, with such a large model it will take time to complete, but thought I'd put some pics up anyway to show its rugged beauty, enjoy

Painting Progress

Four Marines and the Chapter Master completed, slight variation of the previous scheme, adding typhus corrosion to the brusho pigment ink to give this very dark, gritty appearance

First Men of the Forge

Finally, many weeks after starting this blog the beginings of a squad has been created, hopefully I will be able to keep this production rate.

As well as the MK3 siege squad, there is also the Siege Master, the battle hardened leader of this company, cold hearted and calculating he commands his force with extreme precision and incredible determination to demolish any traitor or xenos who stands before them.

A Glimpse of what's to come

Once again, it's been a while since I last posted, the demands of life creating barriers. However, working hard has its benefits and I now have time to model again, hopefully quite a bit within the foreseeable future.

I'm starting this new wave off with some MK3 Breacher Siege Marines, a great model in my opinion with some great rules too. In the Forgeworld Siege Assault Vanguard tactical squads can take the siege manlets granting them re-rollable armour saves. I recommend any fans of Space Marines to take a look at this list.

Sculpting Terrain

Basing is one of my favourite parts of modelling and I hope it shows with these four which I've created over the past couple of days.

Sculpted with milliput with plastic tubing off of cotton swabs, the theme I'm going for is a wrecked manufactorium on an abandoned forge world. The Iron Hands have chosen to follow their Mechanicus brothers in exploring and investigating the forgotten world for reasons unknown... ABOLISHED CONCEPT

Basing Begins

Finally managed to get my hands on some of Games Workshop's new 32mm bases, after seeing these on the Blood Angels tactical squad I knew that I had to kit out my marines with these. They'll allow for much more detail to be added, which will help with the narrative of the army. More to come very soon.

N.B The plastic which is used for these bases is much thicker than previous bases, measuring 1mm thick, This gives them a higher quality feel and don't flex at all, good job GW.

Some men were born leaders...

With Forgeworld's models being rather extravagantly priced I began looking for a more lucrative method of building up my forges while still keeping the overall feel, this has lead to the creation of these three marines

I am incredibly happy with the look these guys have, I was apprehensive at first about combining the two marks of armour due to their very different styling. The gamble has paid off though and has lead to the creation of some very unique characters, which will now be made into sergeants within my tactical squads.
